Sunflower Harvest!

The sunflowers were fun, but boy were they looking bedraggled after these hot August days. So the boys and I had great fun chopping down our sunflower forest the other day. Each flower fell like a heavy tree, scattering sunflower seeds all over the sidewalk for the birds. Not to worry though, I spent most of Saturday brining and roasting the rest so we have enough stored to nibble on for the next 20 years. The only problem is, no one seems interested in eating them.

WOW Those are HUGE!

I did not even know you brined and roasted sunflower seeds. I grew tiny sunflowers (I mean comparatively) and I never saw the seeds.
